EMTONE works by hitting the structures involved in cellulite from two technological angles. The mechanical aspect of treatment, the targeted pressure energy, increases local circulating, enhances collagen production, and relaxes the fibro-septal network of bands that pull down on the skin. This may be particularly effective at loosening stiff cellulite. The thermal aspect of the process enhances the effects of skin smoothing, firming, and tightening by affecting adipose fat beneath the skin and softening the fibrous bands for relaxation. The increase in collagen production caused by heat helps to firm the skin. The increase in elastin helps increase the elasticity of the fibrous septae so the skin is released from their pull.
