Dermal fillers are not all designed with the same components and characteristics, nor are all fillers intended for the exact same purpose. Restylane products are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that we are happy to use in patient care.
At Bucay Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics we offer the following Restylane family of products: Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne.
Restylane & Restylane Lyft
Restylane and Restylane Lyft are both hyaluronic acid fillers. The components of each filler are essentially the same. The difference lies in the consistency of each. Restylane Lyft contains larger microspheres than does Restylane, rendering this filler capable of providing a gorgeous lift to areas that need more density in the solution. Restylane and Restylane Lyft complement each other quite nicely.
Due to its smoother consistency, Restylane is a great filler for use around the lips as well as the eyes, where hollowing has occurred. Both, however, can be used as volumizers for the temples, cheeks, and lips.
The versatility of Restylane and Restylane Lyft make these fillers excellent tools in fighting the signs of aging. Safe and effective with long lasting results, these hyaluronic fillers can achieve gorgeous non-surgical rejuvenation. Dr. Bucay has years of experience working with each and has helped patients from their twenties to their seventies achieve more youthful, more beautiful skin with Restylane and Restylane Lyft.
Restylane Refyne & Restylane Defyne
Restylane® Refyne and Defyne is designed with XpresHAn Technology™ to help soften laugh lines, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It was approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
How Restylane works
Your body creates hyaluronic acid (HA) to lubricate joints and keep cartilage moist. HA is also an important component of your skin, contributing to tissue repair (wound healing). Q-Med, the makers of Restylane incorporate the unique qualities of HA into dermal filler that promotes skin hydration and drives collagen production. What does that brief lesson in biology mean to the residents of San Antonio? It means that you have a terrific option, Restylane and Restylane Lyft, to bring lift to your facial appearance and Restylane to restore the youthful plumpness to your lips, without surgery.
The HA used in Restylane is formulated in a laboratory, with the same chemical composition as the HA produced naturally by your body. Since it is not derived from animal sources, there is little risk of allergic reaction. This product is approved by the FDA as a cosmetic injectable. It is estimated that Restylane has been used in well over 11 million treatments, all over the world. Dr. Vivian Bucay has the training and experience to design a facial rejuvenation plan to suit your specific needs. That program may include Restylane alone, or in combination with other treatments for a Liquid Face Lift. This is a versatile injectable.
Restylane can be used to:
- Add volume and shape to lips.
- Fill nasolabial folds – the lines from your nose to mouth.
- Lift sad mouth corners (marionette lines)).
- Diminish the appearance of wrinkles on your forehead and around the eyes; frown lines and crow’s feet.
- Add volume to facial hollows under the eyes and on the cheeks.
- Attractively contour chin, nose, and forehead.
At the initial consultation, Dr. Bucay will take time to understand your goals, your current medical situation, and your lifestyle. If Restylane is right for you, every precaution is taken to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Dr. Bucay injects the product just under the skin with a fine needle, precisely and artistically addressing the treatment area.
Restylane side effects
Downtime is minimal. While there can be some minor bruising or swelling, it is temporary and easily managed with cool compresses or over-the-counter analgesics.
How long does Restylane last?
The beautiful results of Restylane are visible immediately, and last 6 to 18 months (a little less for lip augmentation). In a recent study, 95 percent of patients surveyed continued to see improvement for 18 months after the initial treatment, with just one follow-up session. There is no need to look older than you feel or appear unhappy when your mood is great.
