Springtime Tips to Pamper Your Skin

Skin Care San Antonio TX We can all benefit from habits that support our skin. Regardless of where you land on the age-scale, your skin is getting older. Therefore, you have a lot to gain by learning a few strategies aimed at maintaining suppleness, resilience, and a youthful glow. We discuss a few here.

Skimp on the rays, not on the water.

We all know that UV rays can be damaging. Too much time in the sun can lead to a nasty (and uncomfortable!) burn. Excessive sun exposure also increases the risk of skin cancer. In between the two is what we call photoaging. If you want to preserve your skin’s health, smoothness, and radiance, you will minimize your exposure to UV light. UVA and UVB rays degrade collagen in the skin and damage the DNA within the skin cells, leading to cosmetic effects years down the road. Saving your skin is easy. Think sunscreen, long sleeves, and hats.

In the dry, hot days of summer, the skin is constantly being depleted of moisture. Things don’t get much better in the wintertime because, when we’re cold, we want to warm up in a hot bath or shower and a nice, heated home. The fact is, our skin is continually losing moisture. While moisturizers and some lotions can deposit moisture onto the surface, the best way to keep skin adequately protected is to drink plenty of water. Think beyond the average eight glasses a day to make a positive impact on your skin.

Thinking Long Term

Aging only ends in one way. As long as we’re breathing, we’re aging. This means we need to think years down the road. Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated, it just needs to be consistent. The foundation for beautiful skin at any age includes quality skincare products. Medical grade products are the most powerful tools you can have in your beauty toolbox. Used daily, the right products affect skin cells in positive ways. A board-certified dermatologist can assist you in determining which products are right for your current needs.

The skin needs a wide base from which to function beautifully. Skincare products go hand-in-hand with professional treatments. These also don’t need to be complicated. Procedures like chemical peels and microneedling are affordable and effective. These techniques support healthy collagen production, remove dead and damaged skin cells in a gentle way, and they also maximize the efficiency of your skincare products.

In our San Antonio offices, beauty can come easy. In addition to chemical peels and microneedling, we offer laser treatments, injectables, and much more. Contact an office near you to learn more.
