Is It Time for Your Double-Chin to Take a Hike? Let’s Talk Kybella!

Kybella San Antonio TX Double-chin fat is frustrating for several reasons. The chin is the frame to the face. When excess fatty tissue resides beneath the jawline, it creates fullness that affects the appearance of the neck and the lower part of the face. Historically, this area of fat has only been correctable with liposuction. Not anymore. Since Kybella came onto the scene, thousands of men and women have turned to this non-surgical method of lower facial contouring.

Does Kybella Tighten Loose Skin?

Kybella does not tighten the skin. A thorough consultation is performed to assess skin elasticity. Having loose skin doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get Kybella. It may mean that you will need a secondary treatment, such as Ultherapy, to improve skin tightness.

Does Kybella Hurt?

Kybella isn’t intolerably painful. As we mentioned, we use strategies to help patients stay comfortable throughout their treatment. Mild discomfort may occur due to the number of injections administered. Additionally, patients can expect to feel slightly sore for a short time after they receive Kybella. Again, this is not painful, just uncomfortable.

How Long Does the Kybella Process Take?

Kybella treatment typically takes less than an hour. When you arrive for your appointment, we may apply an ice pack or topical numbing cream on your skin. This is the longest part of the session because it takes several minutes for the topical anesthetic to desensitize the skin. Once this is achieved, we need to mark the injection sites using a grid before administering the solution. This part of the appointment is usually less than 10 minutes.

Kybella Recovery

There will be swelling after Kybella treatment. Most people experience slight swelling after injectable therapies. Kybella is slightly different. Because we are introducing a fair amount of deoxycholic acid into a relatively small treatment area, the fluid will sit within the tissue for a few days. This may make the upper neck look fuller than it did with only fat cells present. Not to worry, as the acid is absorbed, swelling subsides, as do those stubborn fat cells.

When Will I See My Kybella Results?

Results appear over time. Because deoxycholic acid floods the fatty tissue we want to eliminate, the chin may look slightly worse before it gets better. Within a few weeks, all swelling should subside, and the double-chin should look smaller. Each week that passes, as more fat is eliminated, results will continue to improve.
