Many of us would like to have a toned tummy or buttocks, but find that making this happen is much more challenging than we imagined. People on social media make it look so easy! Of course, we know that getting a toned, tight core or backside really is a lot of work for most people. Eating well and hitting the gym a few days a week doesn’t get most of us to the pinnacle of the six-pack. After all, to do so is to work against the body’s natural tendency to hold on to fat! Does this make the dream impossible, though? Absolutely not.
Over the past several years, several technologies have been developed specifically for the body contouring arena. Liposuction techniques have improved. Noninvasive devices like CoolSculpting have been created to destroy fat cells without surgery. These have been significant advances, but none of what we have seen has done much for muscle tone. Until now. We are proud to bring Emsculpt and all of its benefits to patients of our San Antonio offices.
What is Emsculpt?
As suggested by its name, Emsculpt is a body sculpting treatment. Clinical trials have demonstrated that the high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) delivered by the applicators can disrupt fat, leading to circumferential sculpting. However, the true magic of Emsculpt is what it does to the muscles. During treatment, HIFEM targets deep muscle tissue, which twitches rapid-fire style in response to this energy. These aren’t just any muscle-twitches; they are strong contractions that exceed anything we could do in the gym in the same 30-minute period. During a short treatment session, the body essentially completes about 20,000 muscle contractions like squats or crunches.
Is Emsculpt Right for You?
If you are interested in turning a flat stomach into a six-pack or a soft booty into a rounded, sculpted backside, Emsculpt may be an excellent compliment to your current lifestyle. Patients appreciate that the effects of their series of treatments improve for up to 3 months and that they can maintain their results with continued healthy choices. A periodic touch-up is also beneficial.
Emsculpt is also appealing because the treatment is completely noninvasive. Patients can return to normal activities immediately after their appointment with only mild side effects. The only side effect to speak of, actually, is the soreness that naturally goes along with a good workout.
