What are Peptides?
Peptides are amino acids that get produced when there is a breakdown in proteins like collagen and elastin. They are the initial point in the tissue-regeneration process, the messengers that alert the body that certain tissue needs help to repair damage and rebuild at a foundational level. The body may produce peptides naturally, but research suggests we can accelerate this process of tissue remodeling by applying peptides topically.
How Peptides Work
To stimulate tissue repair, peptides work by calling in reinforcements. Messenger peptides ask the body for more collagen and elastin. Copper peptides support the collagen fibers that are being rebuilt. Carrier peptides also do this by supplying various minerals. Various peptides accomplish different tasks in the skin, all of which are focused on repair. Not all medical-grade skincare products contain the same types of peptides. However, those that are utilized have been selected for their safety and efficacy.
At the Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics, we value the research and development that goes into the various medical-grade products available today. We understand that each person’s skin is unique and deserving of the highest quality products for beneficial improvement. This is why we carry multiple product lines and conduct a thorough skin evaluation before making recommendations.
